Yoga is like a mirror, giving us an opportunity to look at our self without the self judgements.  The process of inner awareness starts with yoga asana (movements), breath, mantra, meditation and studying the yogic texts. The honest self-reflection reveals the truth  who we are and how we have arrived to this moment.  Honoring where we are allows us to look at those around us with the same respect. Know that we all have our own paths to lead and yet we honor the path everyone is on which is to the truth.  Let Yoga realign us and guide us on this path.            

I was very fortunate to have found this tradition that has opened, released and healed me.  Through the process bringing clarity and knowing of who I am and my dharma.    I am eternally grateful to my teachers Monica Devine in Alaska,  Gurus at  Yoga Vidya Gurukul, in Nasik,  Yoga & Meditation in Rishikesh, India, Sienna Sherman who reinforced in me  the love of teaching yoga, and Dr. Frawley for connecting me with Vedic teachings that resonates within me .  Most grateful to the past teachers that have passed down the teachings of Yoga and for my everyday teacher and guidance,  Nature and the Cosmos.  I am a firm believer that yoga will  helps us to find “ease and grounded presence ” in our daily life if we are willing to show up to the practice. Hari Om!

Sandy Walters yoga teacher, educator, health and wellness guide has two 200 Hour Yoga Training Certifications, 500 HourYoga Training Certifications, Certification in Functional Diagnostic and Nutrition Practitioner, Fascial Release Certification, Vedic Counseling Certification, Yoga and Grief certification and nearly 5000 hours of teaching experience. Currently pursuing Yoga Therapy Training in clinical settings.

Diana

Good Nature Yoga with Diana

Diana Rhoades has been a student of yoga since 1989. In 2020 she earned her 200-hr RYT through Namaste North Yoga in Alaska. Her primary teachers have been a mix of Iyengar, Hatha, Yin and Vinyasa. 

Yoga has helped Diana build strength after a low-back injury in 2013. All of her classes start with a warmup and move into strength and vinyasa with deeper instruction on at least one new pose each class.  She combines breath and movement to take you out of your head and into your heart to find your good nature. 

When not doing yoga, Diana enjoys introducing people to the healing benefits of parks, trails and time outside through her full-time job at the Anchorage Park Foundation. 

Brian

Brian practices yoga to connect with reality. He practices returning to the breath, heartbeat, sensations and vibrations of the body as a way of receiving and responding to the world with more clairty and compassion. His classes aspire to help you practice tuning into the flowing sensory experience of being you.

Lisa

Lisa acquired her 200 hr yoga teacher certification in 2013 through Inner Dance Yoga under the skilled guidance of Karen and Bruce Greenwood and she completed a 300 hr yoga therapy focused teacher training in 2021 through SarahJoy Marsh in Oregon. Additional certifications include restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and Trauma Informed Brain Sensitive yoga training.
Lisa’s full spectrum yoga sessions use concise verbal cues, a balance of effort and release, and use of optional modifications. Lisa fully believes that yoga is for every body and wants to guide people to feel more comfortable in and to appreciate the one body and the one life they have.

Natalie

My yoga practice began in 2009. Since then I have studied Ashtanga and primarily practice Vinyasa. Ashtanga and Restorative styles of yoga. I graduated from Namaste North Yoga’s 200 hr Mandala Yoga Teacher Training and I am Yoga Alliance Certified. I am also a certified Holistic Health coach through The Institute of Integrative Nurtrition. In my free times I love to be out in nature, hike, forage for mushrooms, Nordic ski and I love to cook.

Christina

Christina Wilson acquired her 200 hr-RYT in Rishikesh, India through Akhanda Yoga Institute accredited with Gurukul Kangri University. She was trained by Himalayan yoga master Yogrishi Vishvektu, PhD., in Hatha yoga. She is proud of this training that places an important emphasis on our key life-force, pranayam, the breath. During her time in Northern India at the Akhanda institute she enjoyed learning about the revival of authentic practices of yoga from both Vedic traditions and the Adi Nath Shiva lineage to deeply nourish the soul. Christina is Yoga Alliance certified. Christina’s yoga teaching style incorporates meditation, mantra, asana, chakra & breath work. She has been working in the Anchorage community in private practice as a trauma-informed Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for 10 years and also recently acquired her certification as a Registered Expressive Art Therapist (REAT); she incorporates a strong mind+body awareness and connection into her teaching style both on and off the mat. Christina also teaches Introductory Studio Arts at Alaska Pacific University each year, she believes art is one of the deepest forms of self-expression and loves to spread the joy of art to others. Yoga has brought Christina conscious awareness, attunement with the physical and subtle body, and helped her to lean toward a community of like-minded individuals who strive for loving kindness, peace, and a yearn for greater conscious awareness as a society. Christina enjoys hanging out with her husband and two littles; they enjoy hiking, playing at parks, staying at home playing board games and travelling the world.

Winter

Winter decided to deepen her personal yoga practice. She graduated from the inaugural Namaste North 200 Hour teacher training course taught by Sandy Walters in 2019. She is currently enrolled in 500 Hour Teacher Training with Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman at Yoga Shanti in Sag harbor N.Y. She is a member of the Yoga Alliance. While she has an athletic background in strenuous activities like crew, biking, and quintathalon, Winter’s yoga classes focus on easy, breath-aligned movement to revive the body-mind and maintain lifetime health.
